Learn how we use palpation, expression changes, and ultrasound to identify filler's location and size, then inject hyaluronidase into the target area using sterile technique. Guided by expertise, kindness, and care, Medical Director Dr. Seo Joon Oh personally oversees consultations and treatments without a separate consultation manager or associate doctor. He takes time to precisely assess facial structure and aging changes…

ULTRASOUND GUIDED INJECTION

From old filler to collagen booster nodules and granulomas,

we locate the concern precisely

and target it with care.

About the treatment

The exact location of old or encapsulated filler can be hard to judge from its appearance on the skin.

If hyaluronic acid filler has collected within tissue or remains in a deep layer, injecting hyaluronidase into the general area may not produce an adequate response.

Ultrasound-guided injection at NEWYOUNG CLINIC begins with visual assessment, changes in facial expression, and palpation.

We then use ultrasound to see the layer, size, shape, and number of remaining filler deposits.

After locating them, we disinfect the face and use a sterile ultrasound probe cover and sterile gel so the area can be visualized during treatment.

With the filler visible on the ultrasound screen, we inject hyaluronidase directly into the target area.

The aim is not to dissolve as much as possible indiscriminately,

but to find the problematic filler accurately and treat only what is needed.

Ultrasound can also help locate and measure lumps or nodules after collagen booster treatment.

How NEWYOUNG Ultrasound-Guided Injection Works

01 First, assess the skin surface

A. Surface changes

We first check whether filler is visible, shows through the skin, protrudes, or causes left-right asymmetry.

Surface signs are the starting point for finding its actual location.

02 Look for filler as expressions change

A. Differences between the two sides during expression

Filler that is hard to see at rest

may protrude or reveal a boundary when you smile or make an expression.

We note these changes to estimate its position.

03 Palpate lumps and their boundaries

A. Findings by touch B. Identify suspected areas

By touch, we assess firmness, movement, borders, and depth.

We compare these findings with what is visible to narrow down where filler may be present.

04 Use ultrasound to confirm location and size

A. Location, size, and shape Information beneath the skin

Ultrasound shows the layer in which filler lies, its size and shape, and whether it forms one deposit or several.

05 Prepare treatment using sterile technique

A. Sterile probe cover B. Sterile gel and supplies

After disinfecting the treatment area, we use a sterile ultrasound probe cover and sterile gel to carry out the procedure hygienically.

06 Target the hyaluronidase injection under ultrasound guidance

A. Real-time ultrasound view B. Inject in the necessary location

As we view the filler on the ultrasound screen,

we follow the needle to the area containing it and inject hyaluronidase directly where needed.

07 Assess the response and need for further treatment

A. Review treatment response B. Decide whether more treatment is needed

Response varies with the amount, age, encapsulation, and location of the filler. If needed, we review progress before further dissolving treatment or reassessment.

08 Ultrasound can also help assess nodules and lumps

A. Locate the nodule B. Assess its characteristics

Ultrasound can help identify the location and size of nodules or lumps

after collagen booster treatment as well as hyaluronic acid filler.

Who It May Suit

CASE 01

People who think filler from an earlier treatment may still remain

CASE 02

People whose filler did not respond well to hyaluronidase

CASE 03

People who can feel a lump beneath the skin

CASE 04

People who want to locate filler precisely before removal

CASE 05

People who suspect old or encapsulated filler

CASE 06

People concerned about a nodule or lump after a collagen booster

Q&A

Q. Can hyaluronidase dissolve every type of filler?

Hyaluronidase is primarily used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler. Fillers made from other materials and some collagen booster nodules may need different assessment and treatment.

Q. Does ultrasound itself help filler dissolve?

Ultrasound does not dissolve filler. It lets us locate and measure the filler so hyaluronidase can be injected directly into the target area with greater precision.

Q. Can all the filler be removed in one session?

It depends on the amount, location, age, and encapsulation of the filler. Some deposits respond sufficiently in one treatment; others may need more.

Q. Can collagen booster nodules be treated too?

Ultrasound can help locate and measure a nodule. Depending on its condition, medication injected into the lesion may be considered.
